5 things GTA 6 fans don't want to return from GTA 5
GTA 6 fans on the Internet have listed a number of things and features they don't want to see return from GTA 5. These include the head-bobbing in first person, the lack of save points during missions, the durability of the player characters, and more. Most of these points were listed by a Redditor named "twiffytwaf" on the r/GTA6 subreddit, which got a lot of upvotes.
This inspired others to join in and add their own points regarding those aspects of Grand Theft Auto 5 they don't want to see in the next game. As a next-gen title, there are several improvements that Grand Theft Auto 6 should have over GTA 5, which is why many of these suggestions make sense.
With that in mind, here is a list of things GTA 6 fans don't want to see carried over from the previous Grand Theft Auto title.
5 things from GTA 5 that GTA 6 fans don't want to see again
1) The first-person camera
It should be noted that u/twiffytwaf doesn't want the first-person camera to go away in GTA 6. Instead, they just want the head-bobbing effect from Grand Theft Auto 5 to be removed. The first-person camera perspective was a game changer that came with the enhanced edition of the game, but it arrived with many difficulties. For starters, vehicle deformation had to be reduced as it could limit vision during first-person driving.
Ironically, Rockstar also made the FOV so narrow that first-person driving feels claustrophobic anyway. You can increase the range, but it still feels too zoomed in, especially when compared to other first-person shooters and even racing games with a first-person camera.
The OP complained about head-bobbing as some players can get motion sickness from it. Again, just like the FOV, you can't completely fix it, as turning it off only reduces the head-bobbing by a little bit.
2) Characters keep changing their clothes
While this might sound like nitpicking, roleplay is an essential component of the Grand Theft Auto titles that make the gameplay feel rewarding and immersive. In GTA 5, you can dress up the three protagonists in whatever way you want, but the problem lies in their autonomy. As the OP stated, they almost always change into something else when you switch back to them.
This makes the whole process of dressing them up kind of pointless. Now, this might be less of an issue in GTA 6 as there are just two protagonists to control. So even if they change into something different after you customize them, it will seem less tedious.
3) Superhuman cops
Something that most GTA 6 fans agreed on is that the cops in GTA 5 are absolutely ridiculous. Their behavior makes no sense as they will immediately start shooting you for the smallest of crimes. They can also instantly detect where you are the moment you commit a crime, even in the most remote locations where there's nobody around.
Some might argue that it's just a satirical take on police brutality and so on, but in reality, it's just laziness. The police AI was much more advanced in Grand Theft Auto 4 and their depiction was still quite satirical, so this excuse doesn't fly anymore.
4) Simplified vehicle damage
The vehicle damage physics was highly advanced in Grand Theft Auto 4, where the crash deformation seemed almost believable. Rockstar also implemented a similar system in GTA 5, but as mentioned before, the release of the enhanced edition for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC introduced a first-person camera, and they simplified the crash deformation because of this.
As such, vehicle damage often feels much less impactful. This makes driving less challenging which in turn, also makes it boring.
5) Not being able to change the main car
The three different protagonists in GTA 5 have three main cars, and these can't ever be changed. Although they can be customized, they are part of the story and as such, are often used in missions. This is a unique feature in the game that previous Grand Theft Auto titles didn't have and not all players like it. GTA 6 should return to the old formula, where the protagonists will own and use whatever car you want them to.
This would make the game feel more customizable, which will subsequently improve replayability as well as immersion.
