5 things GTA Online fans can expect if FiveM gets console support
There is a lot of speculation going around about official console support for FiveM in GTA Online possibly dropping soon. This stems from a recent report featuring information allegedly from former Cfx.re (the developer of FiveM) employees, suggesting that Rockstar Games might be working on such a project. While there is no official word on the matter yet from the developer of Grand Theft Auto, the title could have an interesting future if the rumors turn out to be true.
This article looks at five things GTA Online fans can expect if FiveM actually ends up getting official console support.

Here are 5 things GTA Online fans can expect if FiveM gets official console support
1) Official RP servers
The most obvious thing to expect if FiveM gets console support is official roleplaying (or simply RP) servers. Grand Theft Auto 5 RP servers have given the title a new dimension and a fun alternative to its actual multiplayer, GTA Online.
The experience has been, and currently still is, limited to PC since FiveM is an unofficial mod client. However, it getting console support from Rockstar could result in the formation of official RP servers on the platform.
2) Modding tools
If FiveM gets official console support, then Rockstar will also have to provide modding tools to help craft different types of RP servers. Official modding tools were also alluded to in the report mentioned earlier, and they could give this decade-old game a much-needed breath of fresh air through player-made content.
Reputed Rockstar Games insider and data miner, Tez2, had also found a public mission creator script in the Bottom Dollar Bounties update's files, which might be related to all of this.
3) An extended shelf life
GTA Online is still quite popular among Grand Theft Auto fans and continues to enjoy a healthy player base. But it cannot be denied that support and interest could dwindle fast once GTA 6 releases in the fall of next year.
Rockstar would also want to keep as many resources as possible dedicated to its new big release. However, the introduction of RP servers and modding tools could extend the 2013 title's shelf life to some extent. It would also be beneficial for players on platforms that the much anticipated Grand Theft Auto sequel won't be released on.
4) No future GTA Online DLCs
With Grand Theft Auto 6 set to release next year, Rockstar will eventually stop releasing GTA Online DLCs at some point. Fans expect the developer to release one last major DLC before the sequel, and dropping official support for FiveM on consoles might just be that.
This could allow one to keep themselves entertained with new and unique player-generated content or RP servers, while Rockstar focuses on the final stages of development and release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
5) A different direction for the sequel's multiplayer
Dropping official support for FiveM on consoles in GTA Online might not just be limited to this particular game. Rockstar might be testing the waters before implementing something like it in Grand Theft Auto 6's multiplayer, which is yet to be officially confirmed as of this writing.
That being said, if the move turns out to be successful, we might see the developer taking a very different approach with the sequel's potential online mode. It could likely give more importance to player-made content and RP servers instead of just official DLCs and game modes.
