GTA 4 mods can add exciting new things to Rockstar Games' beloved 2008 release. The title is beloved within the gaming community for its gritty storyline and characters, as well as its fun gameplay features, like the exaggerated euphoria physics. Mods can make the game even better, but many of them are not suitable for low-end PCs.

5) GTA 4 mods: Phone Theme - Malibu Club from Vice City
Malibu Club is the iconic nightclub from GTA Vice City and Vice City Stories. Fans are hoping it gets featured in GTA 6's Vice City.
Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, but until then, players can enjoy a Malibu Club theme on their GTA 4 mobile phone through this mod. Installing it will replace the vanilla Heat theme in the in-game phone with a custom one, featuring palm trees and the Malibu club's image.
This mod is a simple, albeit nice, tribute to the fan-favorite location, and since it is just a phone theme, it shouldn't take a toll on your low-end PC.

4) GTA 4 mods: 1 Star Police Ticket
The police is among the many reasons to play GTA 4 in 2024. The law enforcement in the game is a lot more realistic and fun to experience compared to that of its 2013 sequel, Grand Theft Auto 5.
However, Liberty City's cops can be made even more realistic through this mod. Post installation, the police will only charge a fee upon apprehending Grand Theft Auto 4 players on a one-star wanted level.
This mod is a lot more intriguing than just a mobile theme and won't affect performance on low-end PCs either.

3) GTA 4 mods: Skip Legal Screens
Sitting through multiple loading screens can be pretty annoying when playing Grand Theft Auto 4 on PC or even console. This can take even longer if your PC happens to be a low-end variant. Luckily, this process can be stripped down a bit, thanks to Skip Legal Screens.
This mod removes the copyright information, as well as the Rockstar Games and Rockstar North logo screens, landing you right at the Play screen upon launching the game.
Needless to say, low-end PC users will find this mod much more useful than the last few entries.

2) GTA 4 mods: GTA IV for low-end PC
If you have an extremely low-end PC, this mod might be of some help to your system performance-wise. It introduces DAT files that tinker with GTA 4's visual settings and time cycle, improving the overall performance to some degree.
GTA IV for low-end PC's creator claims to have tested it on an Nvidia 8400GS, an E4500 Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB of RAM, which are highly outdated by today's standards.
The mod will downgrade Grand Theft Auto 4 visually, but that is a sacrifice you will have to make for better performance.

1) GTA 4 mods: DXVK 2.3.1 - Fixed Build for GTA IV
If you are experiencing performance issues in GTA 4 on your low-end PC, this is a mod that you should definitely try. What it basically does is convert slow DirectX 9 calls into Vulkan to help with performance and compatibility.
The mod's description states that there shouldn't be any decrease in your graphic card's performance, but there should be an increase in your CPU's. This should help with problems like stuttering without affecting the visuals. However, the effect won't be instant, and instead, will be implemented over the course of you playing the game.
