While the update was supposed to just add BattlEye files, it reportedly did more than that. According to popular insider Tez2, a leftover metadata file was found in today’s Grand Theft Auto 5 update that suggests that Rockstar Games is indeed working on a Gen9 version of the game for PC.
According to their analysis, the integration of BattlEye could be a sign that the developers are preparing for the “arrival of the Gen9 version on PC.” The Gen9 version is supposedly equivalent to the Expanded and Enhanced version of the game currently available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Fans can look forward to hearing more about it officially from Rockstar Games soon if they are indeed working on something like that.
