HVY Insurgent in GTA 5 Online: Top speed, performance, price, and more

HVY Insurgent is one of the oldest armored vehicles in GTA 5 Online, debuting as part of the Heists update way back in 2015. Many new vehicles, especially armored cars, have been added to the game since, but the Insurgent can still prove quite useful for players, at least those low on cash, such as beginners. The car's base price is under a million dollars, which is relatively affordable, and can be decreased even further by unlocking its Trade Price.

In return, you will get a car with decent speed for its size and good security in PvP and PvE scenarios. Whether Insurgent will return in GTA 6 is currently unknown, but it will be of help to those grinding GTA 5 Online while waiting for its sequel. So, let's take a closer look at the Insurgent.

HVY Insurgent's design seems to be an amalgamation of the Terradyne Gurkha and Conquest Knight XV, and it falls in GTA 5 Online's Off-Road cars category. It is pretty fast for its size, as already mentioned, but lacks any visual modifications (can only be resprayed), which is a bit of a let-down.

That said, Insurgent's explosive resistance is a much bigger asset. Let's look at some important things to know about it in a detailed manner.

1) GTA 5 HVY Insurgent price

Insurgent is available for purchase on Warstock Cache and Carry and costs just $897,750. Additionally, completing The Humane Labs Raid unlocks its $675,000 Trade Price.

This may seem like a lot but doing just two runs of the Cluckin Bell Farm Raid, a heist that requires no prior investments, will let you afford it. Taking advantage of GTA Online weekly update bonuses can also assist with this.

2) HVY Insurgent top speed and performance

Post complete upgradation, the Insurgent can, as per popular YouTuber Broughy1322's performance tests, hit a top speed of 98.25 mph (158.12 km/h).

This isn't very impressive statistically, but the vehicle doesn't really feel too slow. It handles all right, the back end can push out when turning at a high speed but it can be kept under control on most occasions.

Here are Insurgent's base performance ratings assigned by Rockstar Games:

  • Speed - 69.75
  • Acceleration - 50.00
  • Brakes - 20.00
  • Handling - 60.61
  • Overall - 50.09

3) Defensive capabilities

One of the best things about the Insurgent is its explosive resistance. Here are the number of explosive attacks that are required to destroy it when occupied:

  • Homing Missiles - 27
  • RPG, Grenades, or Sticky Bomb - 9
  • Mobile Operations Center Cannon - 9
  • Explosive Rounds - 23
  • Tank Cannon - 5

Additionally, having a small rear window makes shooting Insurgent's occupants from the back a little challenging.

4) HVY Insurgent is good for off-roading

The GTA Online HVY Insurgent is bulky, but it can surprisingly scale hills and mountains quickly and with ease. Its tires maintain a tight grip on the surface underneath, preventing it from skidding on rough terrain and it maintains balance even on uneven surfaces.

In a nutshell, the Insurgent is a great choice if you want to explore Blaine County's wilderness.

Is HVY Insurgent worth buying in GTA 5 Online?

While other cars like the Insurgent Pick-Up, Insurgent Pick-Up Custom, or Nightshark may seem more attractive, the standard HVY Insurgent is a neat pick at its price. It is great for off-roading and will provide protection from adversaries, which is why those on a tight budget can consider investing in it.
