GTA 5 sales still stand at 200+ million copies: Take-Two Interactive

The Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 sales numbers are still admirable, even though the title was released a long time ago. This makes it one of the most financially successful games in recent memory. That said, it seems like the title is not selling as fast as it was earlier. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, held its earnings call earlier today, August 8, 2024, and revealed the sales details for Q1 2025.

According to the company, the title has managed to sell over a staggering 200 million copies worldwide to date. Read on to learn more about the sales report.

GTA 5 dominance seems to have declined as sales drops

The publisher Take-Two Interactive has released the Q1 2025 earnings report. According to it, Grand Theft Auto 5 has managed to sell over 200 million copies so far; however, it's worth noting that the Q4 2024 report suggested the same.

GTA 5’s success has also contributed to the overall popularity of the Grand Theft Auto series, whose games have sold 430 million units to date, according to Take-Two. This is a huge milestone to achieve for any gaming franchise.

Every copy of GTA 5 comes bundled with the popular multiplayer title, Grand Theft Auto Online, which is why most players buy the game nowadays. The developer Rockstar Games has kept the online relevant with continuous DLCs and updates, most recently with the latest GTA Online weekly update released on August 8, 2024.
