GTA 6 announcement almost got delayed as per popular Rockstar insider

Rockstar Games officially announced the arrival of the first GTA 6 trailer back on November 8, 2023. However, the news about a trailer announcement coming soon was reported some hours earlier by one of the most reliable video game journalists, Jason Schreier. Now, another reputed name in the Grand Theft Auto community, Tez2, has claimed that Rockstar's President, Sam Houser, wanted to delay the trailer announcement "just to screw Schreier," but was talked out of it by others at the company.

"There are other higher-ups like Aaron Garbut, Rob Nelson, Jennifer Kolbe, and others who influence the decision-making and sometimes keep him in check. I recall he wanted to push back the Nov announcement by a week just to screw Schreier, but he was talked out of it."

The popular insider and data miner claimed this during a discussion on the website GTAForums.

During a discussion on GTAForums, a user going by the name "I WAS WRONG" stated that the impending title (GTA 6) would arguably be the first where Sam Houser's vision would go unchecked, given that other prominent figures such as Leslie Benzies, and his brother, Dan Houser, have left Rockstar Games. Tez2 replied to this comment by stating that there are other higher-ups who influence the decision-making and keep him in check.

The insider then went on to claim that the Rockstar Games' President wanted to "push back" the GTA 6 announcement that was made in November 2023 (which was the trailer announcement) by a week, as can be seen in the image above.

For those unaware, hours prior to Rockstar's official GTA 6 trailer announcement last year, Jason Schreier had reported the possibility of such an announcement coming soon.

He was eventually proven right, as Rockstar did announce the first trailer GTA 6, just before a Take-Two Interactive earnings call on the same day.

However, as per Tez2, Sam Houser allegedly wanted to delay this announcement by a week. Although Tez2 is a reliable source of information related to Grand Theft Auto, often reporting correct details related to the franchise (and even other Rockstar Games titles) before official announcements, there is no way to confirm if this particular claim is true. So, readers should take this information with a grain of salt.
