GTA 6 release won't be impacted by the Game Actors Strike: Report

While a GTA 6 release date has yet to be confirmed, fans were extremely worried that the title might be delayed because of the recent Game Actors Strike (also called the SAG-AFTRA strike). However, it has been confirmed that the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title will not be affected by the strike.

@videotechuk_, a popular Grand Theft Auto news source, shared a Kotaku article where a SAG-AFTRA spokesperson states that GTA 6 is exempt from the strike. The latter says:

“I can confirm GTA VI is exempt.”

These are the words of the spokesperson who talked to Kotaku. On top of this, searching the SAG-AFTRA database with the "GTA 6" keyword suggests that the game is not affected by the strike. The union's site says that anyone currently contracted to work on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game can continue doing so without worrying about disciplinary actions.

However, they have been asked not to renew the contracts with the company. This is a huge relief for both Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, as well as all the fans desperately waiting for GTA 6's release.

The recent strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union is aimed at numerous video game publishing giants like Take-Two Interactive, Activision, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, and more. SAG-AFTRA has prohibited actors from working on ongoing projects associated with these studios until their demands are met.

Because of this, Grand Theft Auto fans were worried that the GTA 6 release date would be affected by the strike since Take-Two is on the list.

However, several fans believed that GTA 6 would not get delayed despite the strike since it is mostly aimed at video games that went into development around last year and are working on the projects. Since Rockstar's highly anticipated title has been under development for a long time now, it managed to escape the strike.

Everyone is relieved by the news and happy that the Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on time. Here are some fan reactions:
