GTA Online update on PC adds BattlEye anti-cheat: Report
A new GTA Online update has just been released exclusively for PC, and it includes BattlEye anti-cheat. Starting today (September 17), PC players will reportedly be able to download the new update and integrate the popular anti-cheat software into the game. This should rid online lobbies of overpowered hackers or cheaters that have made the multiplayer unplayable for many.
BattlEye is a third-party anti-cheat software specially designed to identify those who hack or use exploits in an online multiplayer game. It is considered to support a “global” ban system for hackers or cheaters to stop them from switching accounts if found guilty.
GTA Online update on PC comes as good news for many players
As can be seen above, popular insider Tez2 reported the new GTA Online update released for PC gamers today, adding the BattlEye anti-cheat feature.

While the anti-cheat system with the new Grand Theft Auto Online update is a welcome addition, some may be concerned about modding in single-player mode. Fortunately, it seems there’s good news for those who like to personalize the story mode.
According to a September 17, 2024, report on X by GTANet, there is a toggle in the game’s launcher with the help of which one can disable BattlEye. This should supposedly allow players to tweak their story mode content without worrying about getting banned.
While BattlEye isn’t perfect, it is still a step in the right direction by Rockstar Games before the release of its upcoming blockbuster and supposedly bigger multiplayer experience, Grand Theft Auto 6.
