Rockstar Games is rumored to integrate GTA 5 FiveM-like features to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
GTA Focal claimed that they interviewed some former GTA 5 FiveM employees, who reportedly disclosed many details about both Rockstar Games and Cfx.re.
One of the most notable takeaways from from the interview is that Rockstar Games was reportedly already developing a “FiveM-killer” tool before it acquired Cfx.re.
“I learned later that they were working on a FiveM-Killer inside of Rockstar…The project failed and supposedly died 2 years before we joined,” an ex-employee stated, according to GTA Focal's report.
FiveM is known for hosting some of the most popular Grand Theft Auto RP servers which are very popular on PC. However, console players cannot access it as the manufacturers do not allow third-party modding on their platforms.
Nonetheless, the alleged former employees claimed that Rockstar Games will allow Grand Theft Auto Online fans to generate their own content later this year, similar to GTA 5 FiveM, and current-gen console players are also on the list.
“This is highly likely connected to the new Rockstar project, which…is expected to be integrated into GTA Online later this year in early fall, with the next-gen consoles following shortly,” the report claimed.
It is worth noting that with the most recent GTA Online Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC update, Rockstar Games has added a ‘Mission Creator’ tool to the game.
The alleged ex-employees reportedly said GTA 5 FiveM was “highly likely connected” to this tool. The report added that the studio had been developing this tool on its own, with a significant number of developers involved.
Some sources also claim that a new gaming engine named Rockstar Original Mod Engine - ROME will be integrated into the current multiplayer game and GTA 6 Online.
