"The contract/agency": Fans point out GTA Online updates that had missed opportunities
GTA Online was released in 2013, and Rockstar Games has since churned out over 45 different DLC updates for the game, adding tons of new content. Despite making vast improvements to the game, there were still some additions that fans expected more to see with DLCs but didn’t get.
Redditor u/Ustraleia kicked off a discussion on the popular social media platform, asking fans to name some GTA Online updates that “had missed opportunities”. They mentioned After Hours and Chop Shop DLCs in the category:
“Me personally I think the After Hours and Chop Shop updates were missed opportunities to bring back some GTA 4 cars that aren’t in the game since both updates revolved around characters from Liberty City.”
The Chop Shop is one of the latest DLCs released for the game on December 12, 2023, adding the Salvage Yard business among other things.
u/Cygsiulle commented on the post and stated that The Contract DLC could've been nicer if it kept adding new clients:
"the contract/agency. would've been nice seeing them add more "high profile" clients with mission chains of their own, even if it was just characters from the games. it's a shame they pretty much abandon each update, once it's "finished".
Another user, u/CrimsonClockwork420, mentioned the recent GTA Online update, the Bottom Dollar Bounties, to be disappointing for some reasons. They pointed out the following few things about the DLC:
- The payout for the missions, possibly the Bounty Hunting missions, is quite low.
- The missions require players to drive a slow van to transport targets, not allowing them to use any other police cars for the same.
- The missions also don’t allow players to wear any custom shirt on the “bail officer outfit”, forcing them to wear the only option.
- The new GTA Online Dispatch Work missions are repetitive, and more.
Here are other GTA Online updates that fans think could have done better or just simply disappointing:
u/xndbcjxjsxncjsb pointed out that the San Andreas Mercenaries DLC didn't provide enough military things to interact with. Further down, u/Fun-Swimming4133 and u/TheSpaceThatYouLeft stated that The Cluckin Bell Farm Raid and Arena Wars updates were quite disappointing.
While liking a DLC for Grand Theft Auto Online is subjective, Rockstar doesn’t seem to stop adding new content anytime soon. The game recently incorporated a lot of things with the Bottom Dollar Bounties update released on June 25, 2024.
