GTA Online has come a long way ever since it was released back in 2013. While the initial version had only the basic missions and features, the latest one is jam-packed with action and adventure. Rockstar Games took several crucial decisions to turn the title into a masterpiece, thereby allowing it to stay relevant even after a decade.

Top 5 crucial decisions that improved GTA Online overall
5) The significant improvement in graphics set things in motion
GTA Online had good graphics for the time period it was released in. The character models looked good back then and stood out. However, with the advancement in video game technology, it would have soon turned outdated.
For this reason, Rockstar Games decided to overhaul the graphics and textures to keep Grand Theft Auto Online up to date. This is one of the biggest improvements that has allowed the game to not only stay relevant after so many years but to also give players a great experience.
4) The interaction menu getting intricate has been an immense help
The interaction menu in GTA Online used to have limited usage with very few options. However, Rockstar Games has improved this feature significantly, making the game pleasant and way less grindy than before. Not only does the menu have the option for character customization, but it now also allows you you purchase ammunition.
This is one of the biggest changes as players had to visit the Ammu-Nation store to obtain more bullets and other similar items for their weapons. Now, all they have to do is open the interaction menu and purchase all the ammo that they need. This saves time and is very efficient when you're trying to grind for money in the game.
3) The addition of heists completely changed the game
Grand Theft Auto games have always been about stealing, fighting, and violence However, the introduction of heists in GTA Online is what changed the game. Players now have the option to join hands and complete heists together to earn a big chunk of money.
This addition happened after Rockstar Games rolled out The Heists update in 2015, which later improved with the introduction of more tasks like the Diamond Casino Heist and the incredibly popular Cayo Perico Heist.
2) Completing business missions in private lobbies has made the game significantly better
Before the Criminal Enterprises update, players were forced to complete all the GTA Online business missions in the public lobby. However, this made griefers even more of a nuisance. This is mainly because you lose some of the stock if the cargo gets destroyed during a sell mission.
Hence, Rockstar Games' decision to let players enjoy and complete these missions in private invite-only lobbies was game-changing. The developer also started offering bonuses to those daring enough to do these missions in public lobbies.
1) The addition of HSW, Imani Tech, and Drift Tuning upgrades has made vehicles much more interesting
Vehicles are at the core of every Grand Theft Auto game. Earlier, players only had access to basic customization and upgrades in GTA Online, which were limited to changing the paint, hoods, and other parts of the vehicles.
However, with the addition of HSW, Dirft Tuning, and Imani Tech upgrades, the customization has received a boost, making it much more fun than before.
While the HSW Performance Upgrade increases the base top speed of certain vehicles, Imani Tech makes selected vehicles much more durable and immune to Homing Missiles. This is a huge upgrade since griefers with Oppressor MKII have been a menace to the general player base.
The Drift Tuning is a recent upgrade that converts some of the cars in the game into perfect drifting machines that can tackle hard corners smoothly and in style. These upgrades have boosted the gameplay, making GTA Online much more interesting than before.
