One question that has been bugging Grand Theft Auto fans' minds for a while is: when does GTA 6 come out? It has been 11 years since a new installment made way, in what is one of the most popular video game franchises, and the wait, as of this writing, is still on. Thankfully, Rockstar Games showcased a glimpse of the highly-anticipated sequel via an official trailer, that confirmed its arrival in 2025. Furthermore, the developer's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has announced a release window as well.

When does GTA 6 come out: Release window, platforms, and more
As already mentioned, the first official Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer (that was released in December 2023) confirmed 2025 as the upcoming title's release year. Although Rockstar didn't reveal anything else at the time, or even in the following months, Take-Two Interactive officially announced in its May 2024 earnings call that GTA 6 will come out in the Fall of Calendar 2025.
Take-Two then re-confirmed this release window in its August 2024 earnings call. A delay rumor that surfaced in early September had fans worried about possibly having to wait even longer. However, Rockstar Games' parent company once again confirmed at its Q2 2025 earnings call, held on November 6, 2024, that GTA 6 is still planned to be released in its originally announced release window, which is Fall 2025.
When does GTA 6 come out: Platforms
GTA 6 will only be available on Current-Gen consoles, that is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, when it comes out in Fall 2025.
The game has not been announced for PC yet. Needless to say, this is quite unfortunate for those on this platform. Rockstar Games titles have a long history of releasing first on consoles, and eventually arriving on PC sometime later. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if this pattern is repeated with GTA 6.
When does GTA 6 come out: Pre-orders
As of this writing, GTA 6 pre-orders have not yet begun. In fact, Rockstar Games hasn't even announced a starting date so far. Fans expect that to be announced possibly after a second trailer for the upcoming title, but a release window for that itself is a mystery at this point.
That being said, GTA 6 trailer 2 might not be too far (if it is even planned to be released that is) since 2024 is approaching its end, and this next Grand Theft Auto installment is supposed to come out during Fall 2025.
