Where is GTA 6 located: All you need to know
"Where is GTA 6 located?" is something that many fans had been asking before the official trailer came out. The upcoming title from Rockstar Games is expected to be a breath of fresh air, with new features, characters, and a new storyline set in a brand new location.
Rockstar has been returning to familiar locations from the 3D Universe era for their HD Universe games. Grand Theft Auto IV returned to Liberty City, which was featured back in GTA 3. Grand Theft Auto V redesigned the San Andreas landscape. GTA 6 is returning to Vice City—Rockstar's version of Miami.
However, this time around, they will also feature Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida, and Vice City is going to be a part of it. So, for those wishing to know where is GTA 6 located, here's what we know about this new location.
Where is GTA 6 located and everything you need to know about it
Rockstar gave us a glimpse into Leonida and Vice City through the GTA 6 trailer, but the 2022 leaks also revealed a lot about it. Queries about where GTA 6 is located were soon replaced by questions about Leonida itself.
It should be noted that some places seen in the leaks weren't seen in the trailer, and vice versa. Some fans, however, took it upon themselves to predict the map of the game before it even gets released.
The Grand Theft Auto VI community mapping project has made much progress, managing to map almost the entirety of Vice City. Some parts of the map are yet to be filled in, as there's not much information about these. Apart from Vice City, there's going to be another city or town called Port Gellhorn, and this was seen extensively in the leaked videos.
The main characters, Jason and Lucia, were seen holding up a diner in Port Gellhorn. It's believed that the store robbery seen in the trailer might be taking place here and not in Vice City. We also see several other regions, like a wetlands area based on the Everglades, a region that resembles the Florida Keys, and so on.
Now, the location of a Grand Theft Auto game can reveal a lot of things about it. For instance, Liberty City in GTA IV was a moderately sized cityscape. This meant that there wasn't much countryside to travel through, and certainly no wilderness. Meanwhile, the barren desert of Grand Theft Auto 5 didn't have much to look out for, and all the action was limited to Los Santos.
On the other hand, from what we've learned about Leonida so far, it seems to feature a massive city, a lot of wilderness, and several small settlements. However, we can only learn more when the next trailer comes out, or when gameplay is finally revealed. So, while we have a definite answer to "where is GTA 6 located?," we'll have to wait till questions about what Leonida will feature can be answered.
