Asia Cup hockey final: India concede late goal to lose 3-4 to South Korea

South Korea won the Asia Cup trophy for the fourth time, beating India 4-3 in the final of Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium in Malaysia in the 9th edition of the tournamnet.

India were trailing 2-0 after the first half and for a few moments, it looked like they were out to win the match but the Koreans played spoilsport scoring goals in the 57th minute through a Penalty Stroke and in the 69th minute through a field goal.

India picking up where they left-off , started the second half and scored two goals in quick succession maintaining their hopes to qualify directly for the 2014 FIH World Cup.

Goals for India came from Rupinderpal Singh in the 48th minute courtesy a penalty corner, the second came from Nikin Thimmiah in the 55th minute and the third from Mandeep Singh in the 66th minute.

India played well through the second half but the Korean attack got the better of the Indian team scoring their fourth and final goal in the 67th minute when only three minutes were left.

India will now have to wait till the end of this year to find out if they qualify for the World Cup in 2014.
