Hockey World League Round 2 set to enthrall hockey lovers
After the four-week Hero Hockey India League feast for hockey lovers in the country, there is more in store as sports channel Ten Sports gears up to provide live telecast of the Hero Hockey World League Round 2 tournament, which would be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Hockey Stadium from February 18-24.
After turning out for different franchises during the HIL, the national players would once again link up after creditable performances in the 34th FIH Champions Trophy and in the 2nd Asian Champions Trophy.
The tournament is of vital significance for India as it serves as the qualification route to the 2014 World Cup to be held in The Hague, Netherlands.
India are pitted against Ireland, China, Oman, Bangladesh and launch their campaign against lowly 70th ranked Fiji on February 18. The blueshirts take on 36th ranked Oman in their second clash on February 20.
India play their third match against 15th ranked Ireland on February 21. The team have a day’s rest before they lock horns with 18th ranked China on February 23. They wind up their engagements against 40th ranked Bangladesh on February 24.
All five of India’s matches would be played under lights at 8 pm.
