India-Australia hockey Test series likely to be held in November
The much-awaited India-Australia men’s hockey Test series is unlikely to be held in October as planned earlier. According to Hockey India sources, the much-hyped Test series between the Kookaburras and the Blueshirts will be held in sometime in November.
The high-profile Test series was earlier slated to be held in October, but it is learnt that the world champions will be busy playing in the Oceania Cup in New Zealand in October and hence there is little possibility of the series happening in October.
As for now, the Test series will features five games to be held at various venues and is likely to be held between November 18 and 24, although official confirmation is still awaited, close on the heels of the Hockey World League Final Round in Raipur in the last week of November.
It may be worth recalling that the India won its maiden Test series against Australia last November, winning the four match series held in Perth 3-1 after losing the opening Test 0-4. Both, Hockey India and Hockey Australia earlier this year had signed a bilateral agreement under which India will tour Australia in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to play six Tests each.
