India's Junior Hockey Team start their England Tour with a 2-1 victory over Scotland's Seniors
After coming back victorious from the EurAsia Hockey Cup in Yekaterinburg, Russia, India’s junior Men’s Hockey Team has kickstarted their England Tour with a 2-1 win over the senior Men’s team from Scotland in Bisham Abbey.
The Indian squad, led by defender Dipsan Tirkey earned for themselves an early lead when midfielder Nilakanta Sharma found the net from a penalty-corner in the 4th minute of the match. Then onwards, it was a powerful display by the Men in Blue which fetched all but a second goal in the remainder of the first half.

The second half had a delayed start as Officials waited for the heavy rain to abate. After over forty minutes in the dressing room, the two teams finally came out to the pitch for the second half and India almost immediately got down to business, missing a glorious chance on the restart. The third quarter saw India on the backfoot when the Scotsmen started pressing forward in numbers, but a brilliantly crafted counter-attack helped Simranjeet double their lead against the run of play.
Although the Scottish side did manage to find a consolation goal for themselves, they couldn’t deny an Indian victory as it ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
