FIH advances in ASOIF Ranking, promoted to top tiers of International Federations
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has gained recognition from the ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations) for its commendable transparency and good governance practices. Its efforts to deliver and live the Olympic values consistently apart from exemplary sustainable endeavors have also been duly noted.
As a result, the FIH has also been promoted to the higher tier of International Federations in its fifth governance review, which has been published today.
FIH has moved up by one group (from "B" to "A2") for the first time since the inception of this review back in 2016-17.
“I’d like to extend my gratitude and congratulations to all FIH stakeholders involved for reaching a higher group in the ASOIF governance Review for the very first time! This is a great achievement and a confirmation of how we operate at FIH," FIH President Tayyab Ikram stated according to a press release.
This performance has been even more remarkable. As per the report from ASOIF, the scores in the assessment generally correlated with size. This means that International Federations with larger staff and more financial revenue tended to have higher scores. FIH was second in the highest-scoring IF in the 8-20m CHF revenue group as well.
The International Hockey Federation reached a moderate score of 191. This score positions it almost halfway through the A2 group.
With some amendments, 50 indicators have been retained from 2021-22. FIH's score rose from 149 to 166, also the most registered by hockey's world governing body.
Moreover, the ASOIF report says that FIH is an example of good governance practice in various aspects such as gender equality policy/strategy, diversity at Board/Committee level, safeguarding, elections, campaign rules, financial transparency and publishing accounts, sustainable development, and adopting human rights policies.
"Recognition from ASOIF is a huge reward" - Tayyab Ikram
Having gained recognition from ASOIF, FIH President Tayyab Ikram said that they are determined to operate with the highest good governance standards.
“FIH is determined to operate with the highest good governance standards. Today’s recognition of our work and efforts by ASOIF is a huge reward for us, but this achievement only motivates us to reach higher. We are aware of our responsibility and accountability, and will make sure to pursue our course for a continuous improvement in all areas of the Review. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues from the Executive Board, all Committee and Panel members as well as the FIH Team for their adherence to and support of all governance measures put in place by FIH," he stated.
