FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Valencia 2024 Points Table: Updated standings after Korea vs Egypt, Match 2
Spain are placed atop the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Valencia 2024 Points Tabe following a 4-1 victory against Austria in the opening encounter of the Men's Olympic Qualifiers on Saturday (January 13).
They have three points and a goal difference of three, having registered a convincing victory on Saturday. Meanwhile, Austria are placed at the bottom of the Pool B standings with a negative goal difference of -3.
Egypt took on Korea in the second match of the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 in Valencia. The match ended in a 4-4 draw as both teams were forced to split points.
Korea were leading 1-0 at half-time, courtesy of a penalty corner conversion by Jonghyun Jang in the 23rd minute. Both teams scored a goal each in the third quarter and entered the last 15 minutes with Korea leading 2-1.
The action unfolded in the final quarter as Mohamed Edris (48') and Hossam Ghobran (49') scored goals in quick succession to help Egypt take a one-goal lead. However, the scores were leveled as Kim Junghoo scored a goal in the 50th minute.
With 10 minutes to go on the clock, the scoreline read 3-3. In the 53rd minute, Ahmed Elnaggar converted a penalty corner to hand Egypt a lead. However, Korea reduced the deficit in the 58th minute courtesy of a field goal by Lee Nam Yong.
Egypt are placed second in the points table, while Korea find themselves in the third spot. Both teams have one point apiece.
Belgium, Ireland, Japan and Ukraine are drawn in Pool A of the competition. The four teams will be in action on Sunday (January 14).
