Four matches took place on the FIH Women's Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 opening day on Saturday (January 13). All matches were played at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Sing Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.
Germany are placed atop the Pool A standings, having won their season opener against Chile. They have three points and a goal difference of three following a 3-0 victory against Chile.
Japan are second in the points table with three points and a goal difference of two, having defeated Czech Republic 2-0 in the tournament's second match.
The Czech Republic and Chile are placed third and fourth, respectively, in the Pool A standings. Both teams are yet to register a victory in the FIH Women's Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024.

Hosts India didn't have the best of starts to the FIH Women's Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 as they succumbed to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of the United States on Saturday.
They are placed third in the Pool B standings with zero points and a goal difference of -1. Meanwhile, the United States find themselves in second place with three points and a goal difference of one.
New Zealand defeated Italy 3-0 in the third encounter of the day in Ranchi. With three points and a goal difference of three, the Black Sticks occupy the top spot.
Italy, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the standings following a loss against New Zealand. The Italians have a goal difference of -3, having conceded three goals against the Black Sticks.
