Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his happiness over India hosting the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025. He is hopeful of fans getting the best experience of hockey.

India has been announced as the host for next year's men's Junior Hockey World Cup, the Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced on Tuesday, June 11.

Making a return to the country after a long gap of nine years, this will be the first time that the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup will include as many as 24 teams. The tournament is scheduled to be held in December.

Patnaik took to social media to express his happiness over the same.

“Glad to know that India will host #FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 in December. I am sure spectators and hockey fans will experience finest hockey as yet another marquee hockey event comes to the country,” he wrote on X.

Dr. Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India, expressed his gratitude to FIH and Tayyab Ikram upon announcing India as hosts for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025.

“We’re delighted that the International Hockey Federation (FIH) chose India to host the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the FIH and FIH President Dato Tayyab Ikram for entrusting us with this tournament,” he said (via ANI).

The previous edition of the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup took place in 2023 in Malaysia. Germany clinched the title, beating France 2-1.

“This prestigious tournament highlights India’s growing importance in international hockey and shows our dedication to developing the sport for future generations. We’re excited to share India’s rich hockey history and provide a stage for young talent to showcase their skills,” he added.

Hosting the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup could prove to be a pivotal step in taking the game to the next level in India.

India recently concluded their campaign at the FIH Pro League 2023-24 as well where the senior men's team bagged 24 points from 16 matches.
