Players giving their best for selection: Hockey coach
New Delhi, March 20 (IANS): Indian national hockey team’s coach Terry Walsh said Thursday that the 33 core probables are not just practising hard but also giving their best to get selected for the World Cup to be played at The Hague from May 31 to June 15.
“It is good to see that the players are under psychological pressure as they are aware that a selection process is on and which is even physically draining them as they are giving their best. This is a real challenge for them and they are competing hard. It is nice seeing how the players are reacting under such a circumstance,” Walsh said after a practice session at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.
Goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh said that the team is focussing on bettering the goal scoring rate.
“Overall the practice sessions have been good. We are focusing on fitness and strength for the initial two weeks. The focus is also on strengthening our conversions during penalty corner opportunities,” said Sreejesh.
