Indian women's hockey team registers third consecutive win over Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, June 12 (IANS): The Indian women's hockey team continued its good performance and beat Malaysia 4-0 for its third consecutive win in the six-match test series here Thursday.
The opening goal of the match came as early as in the fifth minute through India's Anupa Barla as a field goal. The second goal of the match followed in the 22nd minute when India's Jaspreet Kaur made no mistake in converting a penalty corner.
The second half of the match saw a similar fate, as India's Vandana Kataria and Amandeep Kaur went ahead and stole two more goals in the 59th and in the 69th minute respectively, to finally seal the third win for India.
Indian goalkeeper Savita made good saves in the match and denied opponents to score through two penalty corners that Malaysia were awarded.
"It is our third consecutive win against team Malaysia. We are doing a lot of experiments during these matches for better preparations for the Commonwealth Games and things are going well. I am happy with the team's show and look forward to performing likewise in the rest of the matches," said India captain Ritu Rani.
