Samuel Hunter Bennett is a Canadian professional ice hockey center. He plays for the Florida Panthers in the NHL, as of Jan 2025. Bennett played minor hockey for the York-Simcoe Express and Toronto Marlboros. He participated in the 2009 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with York-Simcoe, where he played alongside future NHL star Connor McDavid. In 2012, Bennett was selected 9th overall by the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL Priority Selection. He had a strong rookie season in 2012–13, recording 40 points in 40 games and earning a spot on the OHL's Second All-Rookie Team. He was drafted fourth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2014 NHL Draft, he played two seasons with the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL, scoring 54 goals and 131 points in 117 games.
Bennett became a regular for Calgary in the 2015-16 season, scoring 18 goals and 36 points. On January 13, 2016, he became the third-youngest player in NHL history to score four goals in a single game. On April 12, 2021, Bennett was traded to the Panthers, who later signed him to a four-year, $17.6 million contract extension on July 26, 2021.
