Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC put on a dominant performance securing their biggest win of the campaign as they hammered South United FC 4-0 in a Round-5 encounter of the BDFA Super Division League at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, on Monday.

Midfielder Ajay Chhetri (22’) netted the opener before defender Biswa Darjee (45’, 84’) bagged a brace on either side of an own goal by Lalnunsiama (70’) as the Blue Colts moved to ten points from five games.

Following a 1-1 draw against Kickstart FC on Saturday, Coach Naushad Moosa opted for two changes in the team, as Bekey Oram and Gursimrat Singh Gill came in place of Amay Morajkar and Muhammed Rafi. The Blue Colts began the game positively with attacks from both flanks and it took them ten minutes to open up the rival defence.

A quick transition of play saw Gursimrat play a low pass upfront to find Advait Shinde who cleverly back-heeled it into the path of Bekey Oram on the right. The youngster raced past his marker before his attempt was parried onto the far post by rival ’keeper Nikhil Bernard.

Twelve minutes later, the Blue Colts finally broke the deadlock after Ajay got into the clear on the left following a quick give-and-go with playmaker Emanuel L. in the box. Despite having a narrow angle on goal, the midfielder did well to find the finish and give Moosa’s boys a well-deserved lead.

Bengaluru dominated the proceedings thereafter and had two more chances on goal through Ajay and Naorem Roshan Singh, but Nikhil kept them out with some good saves.

The Colts finally got their second goal in the final minute of the first half, when Biswa controlled Ajay’s looped pass into the box on the right and slotted it home with ease for his first of the afternoon.

The second half was pretty much a one-sided affair, with Bengaluru dominating majority of the proceedings, and barring a couple of chances the rivals were restricted to their half.

Moosa’s boys further increased their lead in the 70th minute when Roshan with a brilliant solo run down the left, got past a couple of defenders into the box. He tried to cut back to find a teammate, but the ball deflected into the South United goal off defender Lalnunsiama.

It was Biswa who sealed a comfortable win when he smashed home from close range in the 84th minute, with South United failing to clear the ball in the box. After an attack from the left was blocked, the stray ball fell for Biswa who scored with a well-timed half volley to complete his brace and the 4-0 scoreline.

Bengaluru FC now play against MEG on Friday, December 6th.
