Gokulam Kerala FC announce Antonio Rueda as new head coach for I-League 2024-25
Gokulam Kerala FC have announced Antonio Rueda as their head coach for the upcoming edition of the I-League. The club took to X (formerly Twitter to make the announcement) on Thursday, April 18.
The post read:
"Excited to welcome our new Head Coach, Antonio Rueda, who will lead us in the upcoming 2024-25 season!"
Antonio Rueda started his managerial career with AD Nervión and served the club between 2013 and 2016. He also coached UD Fuente de C., San Roque Lepe, Mora CF, and Xerez CD in short stints between 2017 and 2019.
He took charge of Olivenza in 2019 and coached the side until the end of the 2021 season. The Spaniard then joined I-League club Churchill Brothers SC in February 2022 and was sacked in December 2022 after being in charge for 26 games.
In the previous season, he coached Andorran football club FC Ordino. The club play in the Primera División and are currently placed sixth in the points table with 29 points from 22 mathes.
They have registered six wins, five draws and nine losses in the ongoing edition. Moreover, they have a goal difference of four, having scored 26 goals and conceded 22 thus far in the competition.
FC Ordino will play their final league-stage match against table-toppers UE Santa Coloma on April 21. They are guaranteed a sixth-place finish irrespective of the match result.

Gokulam Kerala FC finished their I-League 2023-24 campaign with 42 points from 24 games, including 12 wins, six losses, and as many draws. They had a goal differecnce of 21, having scored 55 goals and conceding 34.
With Antonio Rueda taking charge of the team, the Malabarians will hope to secure an ISL qualification place by finishing atop the I-League points table next season.
