"Honored to commit my future to this legendary club" - Creative maestro Madih Talal signs for East Bengal FC on a 2-year contract | ISL 2024-25

East Bengal FC have bolstered their attacking lineup with the signing of French playmaker Madih Talal on a two-year contract, extending through the end of the 2025-26 season, the club announced on Thursday, June 27. The 26-year-old was one of the standout performers for debutants Punjab FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 season, recording the highest assist tally in the league (10).

Expressing his elation on joining the Red and Gold Brigade, Talal said in a club statement:

“East Bengal’s contribution to Indian football is immense, and I am honored to commit my future to this legendary club. I am very excited to meet my new teammates and the incredible fans who make this club special.”

Madih Talal will join an impressive attacking roster at East Bengal, which includes ISL 2023-24 Golden Boot winner Dimitrios Diamantakos, Kalinga Super Cup 2024 top scorer Cleiton Silva, and Durand Cup 2023 Golden Boot winner David Lalhlansanga.

"Talal has been one of the top foreigners" - Carles Cuadrat on East Bengal FC's new signing

After a lackluster start to the season, with no goal contributions in his first six outings, Madih Talal spectacularly found his rhythm. The turning point came with back-to-back assists against Hyderabad FC and Bengaluru FC in the ISL, signaling the arrival of the French playmaker.

Talal concluded his debut season in India with an impressive tally of six goals and 12 assists across competitions for Punjab FC.

But the numbers alone don't capture the full extent of Talal's influence. The 26-year-old’s flair and finesse breathed life into Punjab FC's attack. His dazzling ball control and agility made him a standout player, as he led the league in dribbles completed (42) and crafted the second-most chances (57) last season.

East Bengal boss Carles Cuadrat highlighted Talal's impact in his debut ISL season, noting:

"Talal has been one of the top foreigners to make an impact in their debut ISL season. His talent greatly enhanced his team’s attack, leading to his record of maximum assists and a significant number of goals. After a few conversations, Talal prioritized East Bengal over other ISL clubs, recognizing his importance to our new project.”

Before his move to India, Talal played for various European clubs, including Amiens SC, Entente SSG, Red Star FC, and US Avranches in France, Las Rozas CF in Spain, and A.E. Kifisia in Greece. His wealth of experience will be indispensable to the ailing Torchbearers.
