Indian women's football team set to take on Myanmar in friendlies

The Indian women's football team is all set to play friendly matches against Myanmar. Women's football is now taking the center stage and two friendlies will take place on July 10 and 13 during the FIFA window.

Both the matches will be held in Myanmar. Therefore, the Blue Tigeresses will have an opportunity to gain valuable exposure and experience against a similarly matched and worthy opponent.

The matches will be conducted on FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying matchdays. Both sides will have a key opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses in their quest for regional and international success moving forward.

The Indian women's football team recently played against Uzbekistan as well. Myanmar women's football, meanwhile, has grown steadily over the years. The team is ranked 49th in the FIFA Women's World Rankings at present. It is the highest position achieved among ASEAN nations.

Moreover, they have been consistent in reaching the knockout stages of the AFF Women's Championship, which is the regional tournament for Southeast Asia. They also finished runners-up in the 2019 edition. The side possesses well-known faces such as captain and star striker Win Theingi Tun, who is known for her pace and ability to finish well.
