ISL: Jeremy Manzorro set to sign for Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City FC are all set to rope in French midfielder Jeremy Manzorro. As per a report by Times of India journalist Marcus Mergulhao, Manzorro has agreed terms with Mumbai City FC and his signature is currently subject to medicals.

The 32-year-old was a vital cog in Scott Cooper and Khalid Jamil's Jamshedpur FC last season and even scored some bangers from set-pieces in the Indian Super League.

Manzorro was signed by Jamshedpur FC in the 2023-24 season after they appointed Scott Cooper as their new head coach. To rejuvenate the entire contingent, Cooper hired a senior midfielder like Manzorro, who dictated the team with his fabulous passing and creativity throughout the campaign.

Mumbai City FC needed a creative outlet after Alberto Noguera left for Bengaluru FC. Manzorro seems to be the perfect fit and since he is a tested candidate on Indian soil, perhaps that made the decision-making easier for the Islanders.

Mumbai City FC's preparations for the upcoming season

After lifting the ISL 2023-24 Cup, many didn't expect most superstar players to leave Mumbai City FC. However, since the conclusion of the season, there has been a major overhaul at the Islanders. Skipper Rahul Bheke, Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera, and Argentine forward Jorge Pereyra Diaz have left to join fellow ISL outfit Bengaluru FC.

As per the latest reports, midfielder Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia), has also terminated his contract with Mumbai City FC and signed for ISL 2023-24 Shield winners Mohun Bagan. Goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz, who received very little game time since the emergence of Phurba Lachenpa, has also left the club.

Jeremy Manzorro is the only new foreign acquisition made by Mumbai City FC. They have also renewed the contract of Spanish defender Tiri, who has played in the ISL for a long time. Mumbai City have roped in experienced goalkeeper TP Rehenesh to fill in the void left by Nawaz and also handed an extension to defender Valpuia.

ISL Cup-winning manager Petr Kratky will continue leading the Islanders after the club agreed a new contract with the Czech.
