ISL: Seriton Fernandes extends contract at FC Goa

Dependable right-back and local lad Seriton Fernandes has extended his contract with FC Goa, Sportskeeda can exclusively confirm. A source close to Sportskeeda was tracking his move and informed us this morning:

"Sertion Fernandes has signed a multi-year contract extension at FC Goa. The player has been a mainstay at the outfit for a long time now and will continue to do the same in the coming years."

Seriton Fernandes had initially joined FC Goa way back in 2017 after he left Churchill Brothers. The right-back, who will turn 32 in October, has preferred to stay at his home club despite receiving multiple offers in the past years.

FC Goa's preparations for the upcoming ISL season

FC Goa recently parted ways with seven first-team players. Out of the lot, Noah Sadaoui, who had been a top player for the Gaurs in the past two seasons, has reportedly signed for Kerala Blasters. Brandon Fernandes has also joined another club - ISL 2023-24 Cup winners Mumbai City FC.

Two prominent youngsters - Dheeraj Singh and Saviour Gama - are, however, yet to secure a new deal and are expected to do so during this transfer window itself.

On the other hand, FC Goa have already started extending contracts and signing new players to bolster their squad. They have roped in one of the best left-backs from the past ISL season - Aakash Sangwan and have also simultaneously extended the stay of Jay Gupta, who recently debuted in national colors.

FC Goa also added a few years to Muhammed Nemil's contract, ensuring the midfielder gets a chance to showcase his talent for the Gaurs.

FC Goa's recent acquisition includes goalkeeper Lara Sharma, who is yet to establish himself in the Indian Super League. However, considering Manolo Marquez's ability to grind out the best of youngsters, Sharma can expect significant learnings at the club.
