"Thrilled to start this new chapter in my life" - Jérémy Manzorro signs for Mumbai City FC on a free transfer | ISL 2024-25
Mumbai City FC announced the signing of French midfielder Jérémy Manzorro on a free transfer on Tuesday, June 25. The 32-year-old, who will don the sky-blue jersey until the end of the 2024-25 season, was one of the standout performers in the ISL last season.
Manzorro joined the ISL in July 2023 with Jamshedpur FC and quickly made his mark. During the 2023-24 season, he scored six goals and provided two assists in 24 appearances. What truly stood out, however, was his dead-ball prowess. Manzorro delivered stunning free-kicks, including a memorable 30-yard strike against Punjab FC and a dramatic 97th-minute winner against East Bengal FC.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move to Mumbai City FC, Manzorro said in a club statement:
"I have enjoyed my time in India so far and am excited to stay for another season. Mumbai City FC is one of the most successful teams in the ISL and has a history of winning titles. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and work with Coach Petr Kratky. I'm thrilled to start this new chapter in my life in the vibrant city of Mumbai and contribute to the club's success. My goal is to help the team achieve its objectives and bring more silverware to the club."
"He will play a key role in the squad" - Petr Kratky reacts to Jérémy Manzorro's signing
Head coach Petr Kratky was all praises for Jeremy Manzorro's abilities after the club secured his services.
In a press release, the Czech tactician underlined:
"Jérémy is very skillful and has a deep understanding of the game, which is evident when he plays. His experience will be crucial for the team, and he will play a key role in the squad. We were convinced of his qualities during the course of the previous season, and I am excited to have him with us for the upcoming season."
Before landing on the Indian shores, the midfielder gathered a wealth of experience playing across several leagues around the world. Manozorro began his professional career with Stade de Reims in France and then went on to ply his trade in Bulgaria (PFC Slavia Sofia), Lithuania (FK Žalgiris), and Kazakhstan (Tobol and Astana).
His career highlights include participation in prestigious European competitions like the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, and winning the Lithuanian Cup, the Kazakh Cup, and two consecutive Kazakh league titles.
