"Together, we’ll achieve great things" - Jeakson Singh after signing for East Bengal ahead of ISL 2024-25

East Bengal have announced the signature of the Indian national team and former Kerala Blasters midfielder Jeakson Singh. The 23-year-old has penned a four-year contract with the Kolkata giants, and will be acting as a vital cog in the team's middle third in the upcoming years.

Jeakson has registered 19 appearances for the senior national team to date and has won trophies like the SAFF Championship, Intercontinental Cup, and Tri-Nation Cup. He was a very important member of the Kerala Blasters line-up and will now be safeguarding East Bengal's defensive third by standing in front of the backline.

After penning the contract, Jeakson Singh said in a statement released by the club:

“I am honored and thrilled to join this historic club. The unwavering support and energy of the East Bengal fans are truly inspiring and I look forward to contributing to its rich legacy and giving my best on and off the field for them. Together, we’ll achieve great things and create unforgettable memories in the days to come!”

East Bengal head coach Carles Cuadrat shared his delight at the arrival of the midfielder. He said:

“Jeakson is a national team player who will be an important component of our midfield. We had a very fruitful conversation where we both discussed what the movement could mean for his career and our club. He is ready to accept a challenge that can make him one of the leaders of the team for the future.”

East Bengal's preparations for this season

East Bengal have made statement signings ahead of the upcoming season. They have acquired the services of ISL 2023-24 Golden Boot winner Dimitrios Diamantakos and top assist provider Madih Talal. They have also roped in Durand Cup 2023's top goal-scorer David Lalhlansanga.

Among other signings are Debjit Majumder, Provat Lakra, and Mark Zothanpuia. They have also extended the stay of Hijazi Maher, Cleiton Silva, and Saul Crespo and have shortlisted their final foreign player as well.

As per rumors, East Bengal are expected to add a few more Indian players to the contingent in this summer transfer window.
