NorthEast United FC vs Jamshedpur FC: Head-to-head stats and numbers you need to know ahead of the ISL 2023-24 clash

Fifth-placed NorthEast United FC are all set to host sixth-placed Jamshedpur FC in the 2023-24 ISL season. The much-awaited clash is set to be played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday, October 26.

The Highlanders have made an impressive start to the season, recording one win, two draws, and one defeat in their four matches so far. Under the guidance of their new head coach, Juan Pedro Benali, the team have been a competitive force, even against the strongest opponents.

In their previous match, they showed resilience to secure a 1-1 draw against Kerala Blasters FC in Kochi. Benali will want his side to continue their fine form, especially with the likes of Nestor Albiach and Parthib Gogoi linking up brilliantly upfront.

Nevertheless, they face a formidable challenge in the form of Jamshedpur FC, who have been solid at the back. Benali, in his pre-match briefing with the press, shared his insights on the upcoming opponents:

"Jamshedpur FC are a very organised team. They are very good defensively and have conceded only one goal in their last two games. Offensively they have good strikers. They had a lot of chances but they got unlucky and didn’t score many goals, but are very dangerous."

Jamshedpur FC have the same record as NorthEast United FC so far this season, and certainly are a tough side to beat. Scott Cooper has effectively deployed a 5-2-3 formation to bolster their defense and limit the number of chances conceded.

However, their problems lie in the attacking front, as they have scored just one goal in four games so far. Cooper will hope that his team can be clinical, especially after missing numerous opportunities in their previous encounter against Punjab FC, which resulted in dropped points.

"We are satisfied with the performances but disappointed with the results, because we should have won, especially the last game as many chances were created," Cooper said. "We are a club that’s developing a team, much like NorthEast are."
