3 teams with the maximum time last position finish in the Pro Kabaddi points table ft. Telugu Titans
The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) has brought a revolution in the country's sporting landscape. Since its inception in 2014, PKL has consistently grown in popularity and is now the second-most watched sports league in India.
Through all these years, Patna Pirates have emerged to be the most successful franchise in the tournament's history with three titles. Jaipur Pink Panthers follow them in second place with two titles.
However, there have been a few teams who have failed to meet the fans' expectations and returned with disappointing performances. On that note, let's take a look at the teams having the most last-place finishes in PKL history.
#3 Puneri Paltan - 2
Puneri Paltan have finished last on two occasions in the Pro Kabaddi League history. They could secure only two wins in 14 appearances in the first two seasons (2014, 2015) and stood last in the points table.
However, the Pune-based franchise have qualified for the playoffs in the last two editions. In fact, they are coming into the 2024 season as the defending champions. Overall, they hold a winning record of 48.24% in 199 PKL games.
#2 Dabang Delhi KC - 2
Dabang Delhi KC also have stood the last two times in the PKL. In the third season (January 2016), they could attain a solitary victory in 14 appearances. Then, they returned with only five wins in 22 games in the 2017 season.
Nevertheless, the side improved their performances and lifted the PKL title in the 2022 season. In the last edition, they progressed through to the playoffs before facing a 35-37 loss to the Patna Pirates. The franchise have won 42.85% of their games in the league.
#1 Telugu Titans - 3
The Telugu Titans have been the worst-performing team in the last three PKL seasons, finishing in the 12th (last) position. In the 2021/22 edition, they managed to secure a solitary victory in 22 games and then won only two games in the following season.
Despite the presence of experienced raider Pawan Sehrawat, the Titans emerged victorious in only two out of 22 appearances in the last edition. Overall, the franchise hold a disappointing 29.10% win record in the tournament.
