Bengaluru Bulls captain Manjeet Chhillar drawing confidence from win over Telugu Titans
Bengaluru Bulls take on the rampant Telugu Titans in the first semi-final of the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi on Friday at the NSCI in Mumbai. Considering the form of Telugu Titans, the Bengaluru Bulls will start as the slight underdogs in the game, but will be looking to tame the Titans’ raiders who have been doing plenty of damage to their opponents this season.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, ahead of the semi-final clash, Manjeet Chhillar pointed out to his side’s previous results against the Telugu Titans which makes an impressive reading for the Bulls with three wins and a draw in their four previous meetings.
“It will be a difficult game for us, but if you see we have beaten them twice already this season and that gives us a lot of confidence going into the game today”, said the Bengaluru Bulls skipper Manjeet Chhillar.
Manjeet looking to maximise his time on court
When asked about what exactly has clicked for the Bengaluru Bulls against the Telugu Titans, Manjeet Chhillar revealed that they have dealt with their raiders very well in previous meetings.
“Our defense has worked well against their raiders. Our coach always prepares our defense well and our defensive combination has made their job harder. Our raiders too have been able to exploit their defense well and we hope we can do the same again today,” Manjeet Chillar added.
But the Bulls’ skipper is taking nothing for granted and feels his side will need to at their best defensively if they are to reach the Final on Sunday. “What’s happened before doesn’t count for anything now and we will look to defend against them as they have some really good raiders in their ranks,” warned Manjeet Chhillar.
Manjeet has been the pillar for the Bengaluru Bulls in the defense, while making some crucial raids whenever asked for. So the skipper has insisted that he remained on the pitch for long to control the Telugu Titans’ raiders.
“I will look to stay on the field for as long as possible. Since I play as the right cover, I have to cut out the bonuses. So it’s very important against the Titans tomorrow that I stay on the field for maximum time,” Manjeet said.
Manjeet Chhillar and his Bengaluru Bulls’ defensive organization will be key for their chances against the Telugu Titans tomorrow because if they allow the Titans to dominate they will be out of the game very quickly.
