BreakTheJakad: 5 players who are exceptional at 'breaking the Chakravyuh'
A raider’s job is very simple by definition, gather as many points as possible, however, this job requires a mammoth amount of energy, agility, quick decision making.
Raiders need to be consistent in breaking down the oppositions’ ‘chakravyuh’ formation and help their teams score attacking points, just like how Castrol Activ allows engines to perform at their optimum while offering continuous protection.
Here are 5 such raiders:
Kashiling Adake
The 23-year old raider has an exceptional talent for breaking down the opponent’s ‘Chakravyuh’ formation, as a result of which he has gathered a mammoth total of 227 raid points over the two seasons.
Kashi’s trademark move to break down the opposition team is the frog jump, a move which has helped him to garner many points over the two seasons, enabling him to jump over the onrushing defenders and escape despite the opponents circling him.
Last season, Kashi alone gathered 24 points in a single match in a thrilling 45-45 draw against the Telugu Titans, but his team failed to make the semis and finished 7th in the 8-team league standings. He has performed well so far this season and is one of the better players from the Delhi franchise.
Rahul Chaudhari
Rahul Chaudhari is well known for his athletic raids that saw him emerge as the second best raider last season. His energetic style of play and profound agility has helped him tackle the opposition’s ‘Chakravyuh’ formation with ease and to gather more points for his team.
He was declared the ‘Best Raider of the Tournament’ in PKL season 1 and has accumulated a whopping total of 249 raid points over the course of two seasons. His start to the 3rd season has also been quite good as he tries to take his team to glory.
Shabeer Bappu
Shabeer Bappu is one of U Mumba’s main threats and has gathered a total of 112 raid points in 20 matches. Bappu’s major weapon while raiding is the ‘Dubki’, which has helped the Maharashtra-based raider evade the opposition’s ‘Chakrvyuh’ formation with ease.
If he sees a group of defenders trying to corner him while forming a chain with their hands, he bends down to get his body below the defenders’ hands and sneak through to his half. He plays for the Mumbai-based franchise and is a solid player.
Ajay Thakur
The 29-year old star raider along with Manjeet led the Bulls to the finals last season, and to a 3rd place finish in the inaugural season, scoring 201 raid points. His ‘toe touch’ technique has given him a lot of raid points over the course of 2 seasons, and a lot of success in breaking down the opponents’ ‘chakrvyuh’ formation.
Surjeet Narwal
Star raider Surjeet Narwal will play for Bengaluru Bulls for the upcoming edition of the StarSports ProKabaddi League. Though he missed last season due to an injury, he is one of the best raiders in the league.
He scored 113 points in the inaugural season of the League, where his agility and quick decision making helped him to counter the defensive structure of the opposition with ease.
