Pro Kabaddi: Dabang Delhi seek revenge against U Mumba in Hyderabad

A still from Dabang Delhi and U Mumba’s match earlier in the tournament

As the Pro Kabaddi caravan reaches Hyderabad tomorrow, one team which will be looking to return to winning ways after sustaining a pretty horrific time in Patna. Buoyant and upbeat following resounding wins in Jaipur, they seemed destined to beat the hosts, but that didn’t quite happen and consequently they valiantly went down to U Mumba too.

As the team landed here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport though, Coach Honnappa C Gowda and his usually benign boys couldn’t hide their frustration.

Captain Ravinder Pahal put it aptly, “We deserved to beat U Mumba. We played really well and had them on the mat throughout. That crucial raid by Anup (Kumar) late in the match proved vital though, had we not let him through, we could have listed another win.”

Asked about his own exemplary performance, he added, “It’s been a good tournament for me so far. Getting awards (Man of the match and Defender of the match vs U Mumba) just adds recognition and encourages me to keep going.

“Hopefully with the help of my teammates, we will continue our ascent. To win the final in 3 weeks has been our win and we shall remain persistent in its pursuit.”

Unfortunately for Ravinder and his boys though, they face U Mumba again in their first fixture here, a tie that can prove to be excruciatingly tough. Having faced them just 2 days back though might help their cause and if they can pull off another defensively astute performance, we might finally see the team from Mumbai stumble in the current tourney.
