Looking at Dabang Delhi's young star from the season - Sandeep Dhull
A new addition to Dabang Delhi KC’s squad, Sandeep Dhull took season 3 of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League by storm with his blistering performances for the Delhi-based franchise. The 20-year old player concluded season 3 as the Eagles top defender ahead of the last season’s top defender Ravinder Pahal, with 32 defensive points.
Dhull, a defender by trade, started playing kabaddi at the tender age of 10, and since then has come a long way, becoming the one of the best left-corners in season 3 of the Pro Kabaddi League. He was selected as an Eagles player at the start of season 3 and soon became a regular starter at the left corner position.
The youngster stepped up his game at crucial times when captain and star defender Ravinder Pahal was not able to continue his from from last season into season 3. Dhull took his chance to shine and ended as the Eagles’ highest tackle point scorer with 26 tackles to his name.
Sandeep has also been learning from his colleagues a lot, and has looked to absorb as much knowledge as he can. “Playing with Binda has surely been a memorable experience and I have learnt a lot from him,” he said, after being asked how big an influence Ravinder Pahal was.
Sharing the same dressing room with Binda has surely helped in his learning process as Dhull concluded season 3 of the PKL as the player with most number of super tackles in the league (6). The Haryana-based defender has the highest successful tackle percentage (42.62%) in the league as well.
Dhull has learnt a lot from this season, and is looking forward to the next season already. Reflecting back on what went wrong in season 3, he said, “It is the little mistakes that have cost us this season.”
With age on his side, Sandeep can go on to achieve greater heights at this rate and having gained good experience, he can form a formidable partnership with Ravinder Pahal to help the Eagles in grinding out results in the coming seasons.
