Defending champs Patna Pirates will take on home team Bengal Warriors

With curtains coming down on the Mumbai leg last night, the Pro Kabaddi extravaganza will now commence in the City of Joy, Kolkata from today. The home team, Bengal Warriors will take the battle across to the Patna Pirates in the first home match to be held at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium.

The Bengal Warriors are coming into this match on the back of 32-26 win against the Bengaluru Bulls while the Patna Pirates defeated the Tamil Thalaivas 35-24 in their last encounter. In the previous clash between the two teams held in Mumbai, both look evenly matched and played out a draw.

The Bengal Warriors have had a mixed run so far, neither putting forth a stamp of authority nor can be adjudged as one of the easier teams to beat as well. The Warriors are led by their defender-captain, Surjeet who came into his own in the last match, amassing 8 tackle points to his credit. He is supported by the likes of Ran Singh and Rahul Kumar in the defence and three look to put forth an impregnable wall in the defence. As for the attack, it is spearheaded by Deepak Narwal who was in stellar form in the recent matches with Jang Kun Lee and Maninder Singh playing second fiddle to him.

The Patna Pirates, on the other hand, have played with the repute of defending champions, riding majorly on the rampant raiding of their talismanic skipper, Pardeep Narwal. With a total of 83 raid points to his name, he is second on the leaderboard behind Rahul Chaudhari. He is assisted in the attack by Monu Goyat, Vikas Jaglan for the do-or-die situations and all-rounder Vinod Kumar.

The defence of the Pirates boasts of brute defenders, Vishal Mane and Sachin Shingade alongside the very talented Jaideep who picked up a High-5 in the last match against the Tamil Thalaivas. Manish will also look to play a greater role in the defence having amassed four valuable tackle points against the Thalaivas.

Bengal Warriors vs Patna Pirates match prediction

If one has to call the match, the advantage would tilt in favour of the Patna Pirates because with the attack being spearheaded by Pardeep there is little the Bengal defence will be able to do. Moreover, the Patna defence has also looked pretty formidable in the recent matches and will easily be able to stop the likes of Deepak, Jang Kun Lee and Maninder in their tracks.
