“I have never been in the auction” - Bharat excited ahead of the PKL 2024 Auction
Bharat, the superlative raider who represented Bengaluru Bulls for three PKL seasons, is really excited to be a part of the auction for the first time ahead of the 11th season. Notably, he was picked by the Bulls through the NYP program in 2021 and since then he is set to go under the hammer for the first time.
Additionally, he also added that the PKL 2024 Auction will hold a special place in his heart as it’s being hosted on India’s Independence Day. It’s worth noting that Bharat is part of the Indian Navy, serving the nation.
"I am really excited about the PKL Auction since I've put my name in the Auction for the first time. Bengaluru Bulls picked me up through the NYP program in 2021 and therefore I have never been in the Auction," Bharat told PKL ahead of the auction.
"Furthermore, it's really special for me that PKL is being hosted on Independence Day since I am part of the Indian Navy. I am very proud that I serve the nation through the Navy and have an opportunity to serve my country," he added.
Bharat played a pivotal role for the Bengaluru Bulls
Pitted as the next superstar of the PKL for many years to come, the 23-year-old raider has accumulated 520 points in three seasons so far from 64 clashes. He was part of 808 raids with a successful raid percentage of 49.
Bharat rose to prominence after playing kabaddi in his village and local tournaments. His excellent consistency in various tournaments across Haryana helped him to find a place in the Pro Kabaddi League in the New Young Player category.
"I started playing kabaddi in my village. I played a lot of local tournaments and that's where I was spotted by the Bengaluru Bulls. The team picked me up basis my performances in the local tournaments in Haryana,” he recalled.
Furthermore, Bharat stated that the PKL has given him everything from name to fame and financial security, adding that the competition has changed the lives of several players. With its growing popularity, a lot of kids have taken up the sport.
