"I wanted to give them a shock"- Randhir Sehrawat reveals why he substitutes Pardeep Narwal in Pro Kabaddi 2024 matches
Bengaluru Bulls coach Randhir Sehrawat has disclosed why he takes his team's captain Pardeep Narwal off the mat in Pro Kabaddi League 2024 matches. Despite being the team's skipper, Pardeep has been substituted multiple times already in PKL this year.
During his stint with UP Yoddhas, the coach would take Pardeep Narwal off the mat when he did not perform well. This year, Pardeep's performances have been better than the last few seasons, but coach Randhir Sehrawat has still persisted with the strategy.
At the post-match press conference of Bengaluru Bulls vs Dabang Delhi KC, Randhir Sehrawat was asked why he subbed off Pardeep. He said:
"I cannot tell this publicly (laughs). Only I know that, and only he knows that. I wanted to give them a shock. That young lad could not play well, but I wanted to shock the players. We have 17-18 matches left, so I don't think this is the right time to reveal the secret strategy."
Although Randhir did not share the full details, he hinted that he brings in young raiders in place of Pardeep to catch the opposition off guard.
The Bulls coach used Jai Bhagwan as a substitute against Delhi, and he ended up scoring a match-winning Super 10.
"How do you think I have won 24 gold medals as a coach?"- Randhir Sehrawat after Bengaluru Bulls end losing streak in Pro Kabaddi League 2024
Bengaluru Bulls started their PKL season with four back-to-back defeats. Randhir Sehrawat has been the team's coach since the first season and they have never started their tournament in such a disappointing fashion.
At the post-match press conference, Randhir reminded everyone that he is a true fighter, and he always urges his team to fight back.
"I am known as the fighter. Even if we had lost today, I would not have been sad. How do you think I have won 24 gold medals as a coach? I am a fighter. Keep fighting, you will get the result," Randhir said.
"If you see in 10 seasons, Bengaluru Bulls has qualified for semifinals 6 times. It has not happened just like that. I sign players, I develop them, they leave me, and still we are here," the Bengaluru Bulls coach concluded.
Bengaluru Bulls beat Dabang Delhi KC by 34-33 last night in Pro Kabaddi 2024. Their next match is against Telugu Titans on November 2.
