Pro Kabaddi 2024: List of all retained and released players by Puneri Paltan ft. Md. Reza Shadloui, Aslam Inamdar
As the anticipation builds for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11, Puneri Paltan have announced their list of retained and released players. Fresh off their maiden PKL title win in Season 10, the Pune-based franchise has made strategic decisions to retain a solid core of players while releasing a few, including a key defensive stalwart, Md. Reza Shadloui.
With a successful campaign behind them, the team will look to build on their momentum and make a strong case for another title run in PKL 2024.
They had a remarkable Season 10, finishing at the top of the points table during the group stages. They showcased their dominance by defeating Patna Pirates in the semifinals and overcoming Haryana Steelers in the final to claim their first-ever PKL title. The team’s success was largely attributed to a well-balanced squad, and in a bid to maintain that winning formula, the franchise has retained a total of 11 players across different categories.
In the Elite Retained Players category, Puneri Paltan retained the services of Abinesh Nadarajan and Gaurav Khatri.
The franchise has also retained a significant number of young talents under the Retained Young Players category. Aditya Tushar Shinde, Akash Santosh Shinde, Mohit Goyat, Aslam Mustafa Inamdar, Pankaj Mohite, and Sanket Sawant are the young stars who will continue to be part of their roster. These players played pivotal roles in the team’s title-winning campaign, with Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat being standout performers.
Aslam Inamdar, who scored 142 raid points, including three Super 10s, and Mohit Goyat, who amassed 151 points (122 raid points and 29 tackle points), were crucial to Puneri Paltan's attacking prowess. Their retention ensures that the team will continue to have a formidable raiding unit in Season 11.
In the Existing New Young Players category, Puneri Paltan have retained Dadaso Shivaji Pujari, Nitin, Tushar Dattaray Adhavade, and Vaibhav Balasaheb Kamble.
While Puneri Paltan have retained a strong core, they have also made some significant releases, including the departure of the Iranian defender Md. Reza Shadloui. He was a defensive powerhouse for the team in Season 10, scoring 99 tackle points with 11 High 5s and two Super Tackles. His presence in the backline was a major factor in their successful campaign.
Other released players include Ahamed Inamdar, Vahid Rezaeimehar, Badal Singh, Ishwar, and Hardeep.
With the retained core in place, they will be looking to add depth and experience to their roster as they gear up to defend their title.
The upcoming auction will feature a pool of over 500 players, including fresh talent from the Khelo India University Games 2024 finalists as well.
