Pro Kabaddi League 2024: Dabang Delhi KC announce Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar as Co-Captains for PKL 11
The Dabang Delhi KC have officially announced Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar as co-captains for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11. The announcement was made on Thursday, October 10, via the team’s social media handles, signaling their confidence in both players to lead the squad.
The decision comes as the team gear up to reclaim the PKL title after a strong campaign in PKL 10, where they reached the playoffs despite facing several challenges, including Naveen Kumar’s injury early in the season. The team will be under the guidance of former PKL player and seasoned defender Joginder Narwal, who takes over as head coach.
With a solid core squad retained from last season, Delhi are optimistic about their prospects in PKL 11.
Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik's performance for Dabang Delhi KC in PKL 10
Naveen Kumar, widely known as the "Naveen Express," had a curtailed season in PKL 10, featuring in only six games before an injury ruled him out. In those six matches, he amassed an impressive 71 raid points, averaging 11.83 points per game. Fully fit and raring to go for PKL 11, Naveen's return is highly anticipated as Delhi hope for his explosive performances once again.
On the other hand, Ashu Malik stepped up in a big way when the team needed him most. After Naveen’s exit due to injury, Malik took over as captain and delivered a standout performance. He led Delhi to third place in the points table, scoring 276 raid points and finishing as the joint-highest scorer of raid points in the league. His consistency under pressure was a key factor in Delhi’s success last season, which has helped him earn the co-captaincy for PKL 11.
With both Naveen and Ashu at the helm, the Dabang Delhi KC are well-positioned to challenge for the title once again after their winning run in season 8.
