Pro Kabaddi Season 10: Who was the most expensive player in Pro Kabaddi 2023?
Pawan Sehrawat, famously known as the “Hi-Flyer,” shattered records yet again at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 auction, where he was acquired by the Telugu Titans for an impressive ₹2.605 crore.
Despite being listed in Category B with a base price of ₹20 lakh, it quickly became clear that teams were ready to bid big for the captain of the Indian kabaddi team. Telugu Titans emerged as the top bidder after fierce competition with the Haryana Steelers, successfully bringing Sehrawat on board.
His former team, Bengaluru Bulls, also made attempts to reclaim him, but they could not keep up with the escalating price. Pawan Sehrawat became the most expensive player in Pro Kabaddi Season 10 with this record-breaking bid.
With this, he not only became the most expensive player of Pro Kabaddi Season 10 but also became the most expensive player of all time in PKL history. The all-time most expensive PKL signing was previously held by Pardeep Narwal, who was bought by UP Yoddhas for ₹1.65 crore in Season 8. Pawan surpassed this during Season 9, with Tamil Thalaivas signing him for ₹2.26 crore, setting a new benchmark.
However, the bid by the Titans during the Season 10 auction made him the highest-paid player in PKL history with a bid that went over the ₹2.6 crore mark.
Pawan Sehrawat performances in Pro Kabaddi Season 10
As the Telugu Titans shelled out a massive sum of money to bring in Pawan Sehrawat, the star raider did not disappoint. He had an impressive outing in Pro Kabaddi Season 10, where he accumulated 202 raid points from 21 games, single-handedly leading the Titans.
He put in a total of 395 raids, maintaining a successful raid percentage of 51.13%. With an average of 9.61 raid points per game, he also scored seven Super Raids and 13 Super 10s.
Pawan also contributed with 15 tackle points including a Super Tackle and a High 5. While his all-round performance was as expected, the Telugu Titans as a whole did not have a successful season.
They finished at the bottom of the table in PKL Season 10, managing to win only two out of their 22 games despite Pawan's heroics. With as many as 19 defeats, they could gather only 21 points throughout the entire season.
