"The team's performance has been good, but we are making mistakes" - Sachin Tanwar reflects on Tamil Thalaivas performance in PKL 2024  [Exclusive]

The 11th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) has been an eventful one for star raider Sachin Tanwar, who became the most expensive player in this season's auction.

The Tamil Thalaivas secured his services for a massive Rs 2.15 crore, marking his debut season with the franchise. While the team is facing a mixed bag of results this season, Sachin has chosen to focus on his performance and the potential of his squad, despite the challenges.

Sachin Tanwar’s all-time PKL playing 7

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Sachin Tanwar revealed his personal all-time playing 7 for PKL, a line-up that includes some unexpected names. Unlike many others, his selection does not feature some of the more popular or widely recognized players, making his choices even more interesting.

The side comprises the following players:

Raiders: Vikas Kandola, Narender Kandola, and Sachin Tanwar himself

Corners: Nitin Rawal (Left Corner) and Sagar Rathi (Right Corner)

Cover Defenders: Parvesh Bhainswal (Left Cover) and Sunil Kumar (Right Cover, Captain)

As the vice-captain of Tamil Thalaivas, Sachin has opted to make Sunil Kumar, the seasoned right cover defender, the captain of his all-time team. Surprisingly, his all-time 7 does not include any legends of the game or past players.

Tamil Thalaivas’ performance in PKL Season 11

While Sachin Tanwar has been performing well on an individual level, Tamil Thalaivas’ team results have been somewhat inconsistent in PKL 2024. After a promising start, where they secured three wins out of their first five matches, the team has faltered, losing four consecutive matches.

Currently, with three wins, five losses, and one tie, the Thalaivas find themselves in ninth place on the points table.

Despite these setbacks, Sachin remains optimistic. Reflecting on the team's performance, he mentioned:

"The team's performance has been good so far, but we are making small mistakes, due to which we have to face defeat. Our matches against Bengaluru Bulls and Telugu Titans were very close. Against Patna Pirates, there were a lot of mistakes in defense and we played advanced."

Sachin also emphasized the ongoing efforts to improve, saying:

"We have won three matches and played a tie. Coach sir has done great planning and we are also working on our mistakes. Hopefully we will do well in the upcoming matches."
