Patna Pirates captain Manpreet Singh says the team will focus on one game at a time
Patna Pirates were at their ruthless best once again as they crushed a sorry Dabang Delhi side 47-34 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Friday. As promised by skipper Manpreet Singh to Sportskeeda yesterday, the Patna Pirates ironed out the errors from the draw against Puneri Paltan and ran riot again.
Speaking to Sportskeeda after the game, the Patna Pirates captain refused to look too ahead at this moment as he stressed on the need to keep doing the things they are doing correctly.
“The semi-final and Final are still a long way away. We still have to play seven more games where we play all the teams once more. So we must focus on the next game, without thinking about the semi-final,” Manpreet Singh expressed after Patna Pirates’ big win over Dabang Delhi.
The thirty-six-year-old raider divulged how his side has been planning every game individually this season as he stressed the need to continue doing so, considering the success that it has brought to the team. “We always analyse the next opponent and decide on our playing tactics during the practise sessions.
“I think that has worked well for us this season. Hence we must continue to do so and take one game at a time. Looking too ahead could harm our chances,” Manpreet Singh opined.
The Patna Pirates skipper though did feel his side look the strongest side in the league in every department of the game at the moment and can’t believe how anyone can prevent his side from reaching the Final if his team continues playing at the same level.
“We have played all the teams and we have beaten six out of those teams. If you look at our raiding and defensive department, I feel we appear the strongest team in the league at the moment. So I can’t think why we won’t make the final if we play like this, throughout the season.”
Pardeep and Deepak Narwal have exceeded expectations: Manpreet Singh
The captain was particularly pleased with the performances of the younger players in the Patna Pirates squad, who have spectacularly stepped up to the plate for the Pirates this season.
“From whatever we taught them in the 45-day camp, these two youngsters have already exceeded my expectations. It’s great to see them play the way they do, and I believe they will have big part to for in the upcoming season.”
