U Mumba suffered a shock 31-27 defeat in their last match to Bengal Warriors. Warriors were already out of contention in this season’s Pro Kabaddi, but they played perfect party spoilers. The defeat to Bengal gave Pune the opportunity to reclaim their position in the top 4. The atmosphere was electric but inspirational performances from ex-U Mumba man, Vishal Mane, helped Bengal to lead 11-9 at half time.
Monu Goyat and Nitin Madane kept troubling the Mumbai defense. Anup Kumar and Co. gave it them all but a determined Bengal defense held on to snatch away 5 points from U Mumba.
Mumbai has failed to build on any momentum, whatsoever in this season. They are barely hanging on the last semis spot and need more consistency if they are to go all way in this season.
They kicked off Season 4 in a tense 36-34 clash against former champs, Jaipur Pink Panthers. They faced a humiliating defeat in hands of derby rivals, Puneri Paltans. Mumbai lost by a massive margin of 41-19.
That has been the pattern for Mumbai so far, with a win being followed by a defeat. Mumbai will be under a lot of pressure with Puneri Paltans breathing down their neck.
Bengaluru Bulls won their last match in a bottom of the table clash against Bengal Warriors. Vishal Mane and Jang-Kun Lee were brilliant in the first half and gave Bengal a 15-8 lead. It was clearly Warriors’ match to lose from thereon.
The Bulls defense were much more organized in the second-half and cut down the Warriors lead. Rohit Kumar came on after a break, and his energy late into the game was vital to the Bulls, as he made in-roads in the Bengal defense to snatch a 27-25 win.
Bangalore has won only 4 matches this season. The Bulls have shown sparks of brilliance but it faded away pretty fast, as they had a disappointing campaign this season.
The Bulls hit an all-time low as they were thrashed by Dabang Delhi, 20-40. Bangalore also faced a humiliating defeat to defending champs, Patna Pirates, 23-28. These two match perfectly replicate Bangalore's season.
U Mumba is the better of the two teams, on form, and will hold the edge over Bengaluru Bulls.
