Pro Kabaddi 2016 Season 4: Team of the Jaipur Leg: Pardeep Narwal thrills kabaddi fans worldwide
The second leg of Season 4 of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi witnessed Jaipur Pink Panthers move up to 2nd spot with 2 wins at home. Patna Pirates continued their winning run while Telugu Titans fell to yet another loss as they remain at the bottom spot.
There were innumerable spectacular individual performances from the 4-day Jaipur leg, but there were few that took the bull by its horns and gave the crowd plenty of memories. These 7 players lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium and would make up a formidable side.
Here’s the Team of the Jaipur Leg:
Pardeep Narwal (Patna Pirates) - Raider
Making his way into the team of the leg for the second time in a row is Patna Pirates’ 19-year-old wonder Pardeep Narwal. The youngster was at his destructive best as he totalled a massive 18 points against U Mumba. In their only match of the leg, Patna Pirates edged past the 3-time finalists and it was largely due to the efforts of this young man.
Rishank Devadiga (U Mumba) – Raider
Taking over the mantle of the team’s primary raider from Anup Kumar is not easy, but it is one which Rishank Devadiga did with aplomb. As the Indian national team’s captain takes a backseat, Rishank continues wreaking havoc on the opposition. With 19 points in 2 matches in Jaipur, the local boy helped his team stay in the top 4.
Deepak Niwas Hooda (Puneri Paltan) – Raider
Many eyebrows were raised when Puneri Paltan opted to retain Deepak Niwas Hooda instead of Ajay Thakur ahead of Season 4. Although they bought the latter back in the auction, Deepak has repaid the confidence the team management showed in him, time and again. Against Jaipur Pink Panthers, the 22-year-old scored 9 raid points to emerge as his team’s top scorer in the match.
Girish Maruti Ernak (Bengal Warriors) – Left Corner
Ahead of Season 4, Bengal Warriors had moved swiftly to retain the services of one of their best defenders – Girish Maruti Ernak. Scoring 4 tackle points is no easy task, but doing it against the Jaipur Pink Panthers in their backyard is the reason why the 25-year-old finds his way into the team despite the Warriors ending on the losing side.
Sachin Shingade (Dabang Delhi) – Left Cover
New Dabang Delhi signing Sachin Shingade took Jaipur by storm with his performances against U Mumba and Bengaluru Bulls. Against the former, he scored a high 5, but was unable to prevent his team from slipping to a defeat. However, he bettered his performance and helped the Eagles slay the Bulls with 7 defence points to end the Jaipur leg with a massive 12 defence points in 2 matches.
Ravinder Pahal (Puneri Paltan) – Right Corner
Ravinder Pahal helped Puneri Paltan end Jaipur’s unbeaten home run with 5 defence points. The right corner defender kept Jasvir Singh, Rajesh Narwal, and Shabeer Bappu at bay to end up on the winning side in the battle of the top 2 teams in the league. With this win over the Pink Panthers, the Paltan increased their lead at the top to 5 points.
Manjeet Chhillar (Puneri Paltan) – Right Cover
Puneri Paltan captain Manjeet Chhillar doubles up as the team’s all-rounder as well as the right cover after enthralling the fans in Jaipur. With 2 raid points and 5 tackle points, the 29-year-old put the home side to the sword as they now enter the Hyderabad leg on a high.
