Pro Kabaddi 2016, season 4: U Mumba defender Jeeva Kumar expresses interest in organic farming
Slowly but steadily, U Mumba are getting into the groove of things. We’re now halfway into Pro Kabaddi season 4 and things look much better for Anup Kumar’s side following their slow start. They’ve found a way to defend in a compact manner thus ensuring they don’t give away easy points.
Veteran defender, Jeeva Kumar hasn’t managed to hit the height of his previous seasons yet. Something that will be on his mind when they take on the table toppers, Jaipur Pink Panthers today evening. If U Mumba managed to win this one, they’d go straight into the final four fray.
Jeeva Kumar isn’t one to grab the limelight. He goes about his job in stealth mode and gets the job done. His wide torso and powerful legs help him in executing hard hitting tackles- tackles that can take down any raider in the league.
But not many know that Jeeva also has other interests apart from Kabaddi. Back in the farms of his homeland, Tamil Nadu, the defender has taken to organic farming. Something in which he strongly believes given the fact that, today’s generation practically live on junk food most of the times.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Jeeva spoke about his interest in organic farming. He said: “I have an interest in it. When I was young, my father was a strong tall man. He used to put all his efforts on work. Even if he had to travel to the city, which was around 20 kms away, he used to walk to his destination. In today’s age, we can’t even think of such things.
“Everybody in India says this- the food back then was much better. Today’s foods contain chemicals. Step by step it affects the condition of the body. Even the body size decreases. I believe chemicals are the reason for this. I want to ensure my kids grow up in a healthy manner” he concluded
